Week Two of the 12 Week New Year Yoga Challenge!
Step 1 – Week 2: Getting Radically Grounded Through Being Supported
Grounding, the ever-so-relaxing effect that comes from some basics – enough food, shelter, warmth, health, human contact – is created when we actively take a stand and resist things like gravity – physical, emotional and intellectual included. But there’s another way to get grounded, that is sometimes more called for, particularly where there is exhaustion, over-work and depleted energy.
During these times, turn toward the supported version of yoga, as I’ve been doing for most of the evening, prior to writing this newsletter blog..
To be honest, I’ve managed to unnaturally load myself up this week (with all good stuff) – creating some yoga for trauma victims videos – in corporation with Klinik; seeing a new client for my just-created Adopting-a-Home Practice yoga coaching; seeing ongoing coaching clients who are getting the benefit of their grounding yoga practices; and then a week from tonight (if you are still up) I’m hosting my first teleseminar, to help people make more than just promises to themselves about their well-being, but to actually honour them.
This is one of my favourite subjects…
The Three Secrets of Keeping Self-Care Promises
I’m not often nervous about programs I give, which is the benefit of having worked for many years to get grounded – the highs and lows even out because there is a steady supporting force that remains no matter how much the boat rocks.
I have a strong instinct to help others get grounded – particularly in action plans for implementing self care.
And part of that is teaching people to simply allow what would happen in personal nourishment if they don’t resist it. However, it often takes a true leap of perception, and off at the deep end, to see how supported we truly are, to really trust that and apply to ourselves the highest level of care we can find.
Do you ever consider the way the earth supports your body day in and day out? How we are totally inter-dependent upon one another? And inter-woven through time?
We literally hold each other up, as any caregivers and receivers of care realize. And this is how we as a society can help each other get grounded. Grounded means having basic needs covered, and this becomes even more amazing when we do it for each other. Why?
Because 1 plus 1 is not 2, it is one. And every time you add to the complexity of the web in which we are connected, it all adds up to one every time. This one is the realization that we are never separate, even if our lifestyles, senses and actions don’t reflect the spirit of connection.
So this week, if you’re ready for the Challenge of it, please assume a conscious position on earth and see both how we can receive support, and how we are giving it, and how that adds up to unexpected surpluses in energy. This level of connection requires the faith to pay it forward, and invest in the unseen.
Grounding with basic self-care, a yoga specialty, lets you see how you are the recipient of the generosity of those around you, those who came before you and those who will be the beneficiaries of your own efforts around self and community care.
On that note, I encourage you to join me on this low-tech phone call: Free Teleseminar January 29 at 7:30:
Join one another as we seriously look into how healthy a community we can be by looking at how we make and keep our commitments to ourselves.
Attached is a PDF poster to share the event with friends.
And here’s the link to sign up right now:

This is my gift to anyone who can make time to consider the value of diving into this really big issue for many people, the basis of which is how our relationship with ourself and everyone manifests.
