New Moon & Solar Eclipse Yoga Reflections Three Ways to Know If You’re On Your Path May 20, 2012

Today’s post is taken from my email newsletter.  As I move ahead with the practice and teaching of Moon Yoga, among many other things, I feel so happy that I am fulfilling this life-long intention to work with the flow of energy that already exists.  Working in this field of re-creating the ancient astro-yoga was on my path, it was for me to do and was going to be bursting out of me regardless of my willingness or readiness to usher this creation into being.

We are never apart from these forces, rather we are these forces, but why is it so easy to blunder “off the path,” to feel “out of sync,” and to want to stumble off into a complete wreckage altogether?

Three Ways to See If You Are On The Path:

1.  You can easily breath out.  This breath out is a sign of being centred and relaxed.  It doesn’t mean we’re not working hard, being challenged (even to the core) or taking leaps that have no guarantee of success whatsoever.  It means that within all of the intensity, you can actually be at peace, and let the breath out of your body on every single exhale.

Conversely, when you get away from core values and truth – away from the experience of right action, right time, right place – then your breath will get stuck in your body, you won’t feel the luxurious generosity of being able to sit and know that everything is actually as it should be, no matter what appearances might say.

2.  You will be the recipient of incredible support.  People will come out of the wood-work to contribute to your efforts.  Doing the work that is yours to be done – that will go undone if you don’t do it – will attract people to help you.  Why does that happen?

Because there is nothing more beautiful than someone who is walking their talk, believing in their dreams and holding out for some better future.  I experience this in others as if they are calling the grace in – though they are not standing on the street corner waving their sign that they need help.

Rather they are innocently, with resolve moving ahead and being a magnet for people to contribute to them. To help these people always provides me comfort, and makes me feel like I’m contributing to something bigger than all of us put together.

3.  The joy factor will explode. As far as I can tell, from a conventional perspective, we have very low standards of joy.  Joy is low down on the totem pole as a measure of success or good health, never mind a sign of getting into your own unique groove in a way that can benefit many.

The “path” is not easy, it’s not utopia, it’s not a quick fix and it certainly won’t make your life less complicated.  Rather if I could see the immense job it was going to be to follow my dreams, how much labour it was going to take, I certainly wouldn’t have bothered.

And frankly it’s metaphorically called the “path” and not the “destination,” because the whole point is the walking.  Our destiny is that we stay engaged in a growth process that is truly in line with what we are encoded, what we have inherited and how we can create in this moment what is meant to be.

And the constant companion that will sit on your shoulder, will be the friendly voice of joy – the one that feels victorious, cheers at every turn and whose guiding light does not go out even in the worst hurricanes.
