As a self-trained musician, meditation is always my best technique for writing music. I literally go inside and wait for music to come, and most often it does. When it doesn’t, then I am very satisfied by what did show up – space!
It is such a magic trick to watch when what appears to be absolutely nothing, gives birth to amazing creation. This in fact is happening all the time.
Glory to your immortal and blissful nature…
The new moon is an opportunity to start fresh, begin where you are, and sometimes surrender to things falling apart. The mantra amar-aanand is is the sound of the new moon, the immortal and blissful raw materials with which we are gifted, the pure space of potential – so subtle that it is easily missed.
During this time meditation is indicated, turning inward to rest, attending simple life and self-care.

This week we are giving a Solstice Kirtan concert at my space, Cloud 284 in Winnipeg, MB. I’m happy to announce that it’s totally sold out…if it rains. Kirtan is a mission for me because it is a chance to experience the pleasure of spirituality.
If it is a nice evening, it means there is an overflow and you could still come if you didn’t get a chance this time.
I’m inviting those lucky enough to get tickets to the kirtan, and you too, to throw your intentions into this chanting circle. Sit down with a piece of paper and write that which you know you want to create, in the short, medium and long term. Stick that paper in your day-timer, and carry it forward until you feel you are living your own ideals.
Says @Heather Hildebrand Thompson, “Best Yoga Experience you will ever have. You have got to try it at least once, and then try the Kirtan.”
